Associate Membership of the ARP applies to those who do not qualify for Full Membership and is open to companies whose commercial activities are related to and whose income is derived from private individuals or corporate bodies for the provision of relocation related services.
A relocation company is deemed to be any organisation offering a range of services designed to facilitate the mobility of individuals, or groups of individuals and their families. Such services may be delivered in the departure or destination area or both. Associate Membership of ARP is intended as a stepping stone to Full Membership and every assistance will be given to you in achieving this. To apply for Associate Membership click the join button to the left of this page.
Notes on the Application Process
Associate Members are required to submit references which are then checked by us and submitted to the Membership Committee of the ARP for final vetting. Associate Members are required to undertake training at Level One of the EARP syllabus before they can apply for Full Membership. Associate Members may use the ARP Associate Member logo.
Full Members must have been trading for more than two years and must submit an application including references from three clients. Full Members have full voting rights on all matters and may use the ARP Full Member logo in all of their publicity material.
Affiliate members are nominated by an existing ARP member or must supply client references.
The ARP is the body for relocation professionals in the UK. This does not just include companies who provide Corporate Relocation Services and Private Homesearch Services. Many of our Full Members provide services integral to the relocation process, such as Visa and Immigration Consulting, Furniture Rental Specialists, International Goods Movers, Education Consultants, Career Consultants, Cross Cultural Orientation Specialists and more.
When applying for membership, applicants are asked to describe their primary field of operation, so that we can ascribe them to the correct membership category.
For example, an applicant who provides a full range of both Corporate and Property Finding services would of course be assigned to the Full or Associate Membership category, depending on how long they have been trading (see above for details).
If however, an applicant provides legal services, including conveyancing among others, it would depend on what volume of their business is generated from the relocation industry as to whether or not they would become Full or Affiliate members.
Who qualifies as a ‘Sole Trader Member’
A ‘Sole Trader Member’ is an individual who works alone and has no support in delivering the services they offer i.e. they do not sub-contract work to others.
A ‘Sole Trader Member’ may work in three ways:
1. As a consultant/counsellor who is contracted to deliver relocation services to individuals or families on behalf of Relocation Companies or directly by Human Resources.
2. As a Property Finder working alone with individuals clients.
3. As a small DSP working alone.
A ‘Sole Trader Member’ can be classified as a Full or an Associate Member, depending on whether or not they have traded for two years.
If a ‘Sole Trader Member’ starts to subcontract work to others or employee staff, then their membership status changes, and they would become ‘Member Firm’ and their subscription would increase accordingly.
